Critical Thinking
Critical Thinking is a new subject taught this year to support students' thinking across the curriculum at Waldegrave School. Students can start to understand the information that they face everyday and learn how to process it. Students will develop skills in analysing and evaluating information and how it can be manipulated for argument. Critical thinking will encourage students to discuss differing opinions, find ways to communicate effectively and be more resilient in finding their own solutions to problems while also understanding where to look for help.Β
Students will start the year with an introduction to study skills, which will enable them to create and access resources as well as organise their time management so that they can make more informed decisions. They will then look at how arguments are presented in various mediums, with a particular focus on social media and digital literacy. Once they have learned to analyse arguments, they will have the opportunity to make their own points and present their points of view.Β
